Former PC Claude Reginald Nevett, 93 years old, who was a PC in Doncaster County Borough, and long time front desk officer. Reg' (as he was known) passed away on 29 December 2020.
 
Former PC Arthur Coates, 87 years, passed away on 19 December 2020. Arthur had been poorly for some time. He worked at Hammerton Road Police Station.
 
Former PC Peter (Jock) Stronach, 82 years, has passed away. He began is career at Woodseats in 1967 before moving to West Bar and finally Rotherham, where he worked in the control room. 
 
Former PC Norman Payne, 86 years, has passed away, after a very short illness, on the 3 December 2020. He joined Rotherham Borough in 1956 and retired in Rotherham in 1988. Norman's funeral will take place at 5.00pm on Monday 21 December 2020 at Rotherham crematorium. Covid rules apply.

Former detective sergeant Barry Jackson, 82 years, passed away on 1 December 2020. Barry worked at Barnsley and HQ Scenes of Crime.

Former detective inspector Angie Wright (nee Peacock), 56 years, has passed away. Angie worked at Barnsley, Wombwell, Mexborough and in the child abuse unit. Details of her funeral will be circulated when known.

Former sergeant Peter Ramsey, 91 years, passed away on 22 November 2020. Peter served at West bar and Headquarters. He retired in 1982.

Former Detective Inspector Fred Atkinson, 73 years, passed away on 11 November 2020. Fred has had an awful 12 months, living with chronic dementia in a Doncaster care home. To make matters worse he contracted Covid. Fred was a very impressive man, a superb cop, detective and manager. He was a PC in the old West Riding in Doncaster, then promoted to Rawmarsh and Rotherham as a DS, uniform Inspector at Attercliffe then before retirement, DI in HQ CID. Fred's funeral took place on Tuesday 8 December.

Former Sergeant Tom Whelan, 83 years, passed away on 17 September 2020 at his hime in Ireland. Tom worked at Dinnington.

Former Constable Sharon Newby has passed away. Sharon worked at Goldthorpe. Sharon's funeral took place on Friday 20 November 2020.

Former Superintendent Arthur Williams, 87 years, died on 24 October 2020. Arthur served most of his career in the Barnsley area and in Traffic. More information will be added when known. His funeral took place on 16 November 2020.

Former inspector Jack Kellett, 87 years, passed away on 26 October 2020. Jack was a Doncaster officer.

Former detective sergeant Dave Norman, 76 years, passed away yesterday, Sunday 25 October. He died in hospital with suspected Covid 19 related issues although this has not yet been confirmed. Dave worked at both Woodseats and Hackenthorpe. 

Former detective inspector Frank Parminter, 83 years, passed away at the weekend (24/25 October 2020). Frank joined the City of Sheffield Police after serving in the Army, where he saw action at Suez. He worked at Hammerton Road, West Bar and Complaints & Discipline. He was a career detective and his knowledge of Sheffield criminals was second to none. Frank's funeral took place on Monday 9 November 2020.

Former Inspector David Carrigan, 90 years, passed away on 17 October 2020. David worked at Hammerton Road, and training being one of the first instructors at Dishforth.

Former detective sergeant Alisdair Duncan, 58 years has passed away suddenly. He worked in CID at West Bar. He lived in Bakewell. His funeral took place on Wednesday 4 November 2020.

Former Chief Inspector Geoff Stubbs, 87 years, has passed away   Geoff died after a long battle with illness, he was 87 years. He served quite widely across the County area during his service and was notably quite seriously injured by a brick thrown offensively at Orgreave during the miners strike of 1984. His funeral took place on 15 October 2020.

Former PC David George Lee, 76 years passed away on 6 October 2020. David worked at Woodseats.

Former PC Ian Hill, 83 years, passed away today (30.9.20). Ian served at West Bar and Rotherham. Prior to the amalgamation of Sheffield and Rotherham his collar number was 703 and afterwards he was PC 999. Ian's son Shaun also served in SYP retiring recently.

Former Chief Superintendent John Lowe, 79 years, passed away yesterday (20 September 2020). John worked most of his career in the Doncaster area but also at Headquarters, retiring as Chief Superintendent Complaints & Discipline. His funeral took place on Monday 5 October 2020. 

Former PC Peter Slack, 86 years, has passed away. Peter joined the West Riding Constabulary and moved to South Yorkshire Police upon reorganisation in 1974. He served in F Division, Ecclesfield and Hammerton Road and was Community Constable at Stannington. After retirement he moved to Bridlington.

Former Constable Alan Crossland, 73 years, passed away on 2 September 2020 in the Northern General Hospital. Alan worked at West Bar and Headquarters (Front desk). Alan's funeral took place  on Monday 21 September 2020.

Former Detective Sergeant John Musk, 57 years, passed away on 25 August 2020 after suffering from Motor Neurone disease. John worked mainly in Doncaster.

Former Constable Richard (Dick) Borkett, 73 years, passed away on 3 August 2020. Dick worked at Hammerton Road and in Sheffield Traffic. There will be a private funeral.

Former constable Bill Askwith, 76 years, passed away suddenly on 20 July 2020. Bill joined the City of Sheffield Police in 1963 and served at West Bar, Woodseats, Mounted Branch and Barnsley. Bill was a great supporter of NARPO and the Old Comrades. Bill's funeral took place on Monday 10 August 2020.

Former sergeant Ivan Spratt has passed away at his home in Northern Ireland. Ivan worked at Hammerton Road and Woodseats. He was not a member of NARPO.

Former constable David Tattershall has passed away. David worked in both uniform and CID at Barnsley before moving on to the National Crime Agency. David’s funeral took place on Friday 26 June 2020.

Former constable Helen Renshaw, 61 years, passed away on 17 June 2020 after a brave battle with numerous cancers. Some of you will remember her as Helen Downing or Helen Leonard. Helen worked at Attercliffe and other Sheffield stations in uniform and CID. Helen was cremated on Friday 26 June 2020.

Former sergeant Hugh John James ( Known as John) Age 81 years died on 3 June 2020. John retired from Doncaster as Sergeant in 1990 having joined Doncaster Borough then West Yorkshire and finally SYP he worked in CID and the Regional Crime Squad for many years. His funeral took place on Monday 22 June 2020.

Former Sergeant Brian Trigg passed away on 19 May 2020. Brian worked in Traffic.

Former Rotherham PC Sheila Baggott, 91years has passed away. She was the 3rd Police woman ever appointed to Rotherham Borough Police and retired in 1981 having service in Rotherham Borough, Rotherham and Sheffield and latterly South Yorkshire Police. On her retirement she was one of a very small number of women who at that time could actually count for completing a 30 year police career.  Sheila never married and lived alone in Rotherham. Sheila's funeral will be held at Rotherham crematorium at 2.00pm on Monday 15th June under Covid-19 restrictions.

Former detective constable Mark Barnes, 57 years, died on 25 May 2020. Mark worked at Stainforth and in Doncaster drugs unit and CID. His funeral took place on 2 June 2020.

John Nash, died on 16 May 2020 after a long illness. He worked in Rotherham division. His funeral took place on Thursday 28 May 2020.

Former PC 1165 Martin (Noddy) Newman, 67 years, died at home yesterday (15 May 2020). Martin worked at West Bar in uniform and on the area. He was a larger than life character known by everyone who worked there. He was still working for SYP as a civilian domestic violence officer. Martin's funeral took place on Thursday 18 June 2020.

Former detective sergeant 493 Terry Burbeary, 79 years, passed away on 2 May 2020. Terry joined Sheffield City Police in the early 60's and was posted to C Division at Attercliffe. He earned the nickname Yogi as a result of him mimicking Yogi Bear. Terry was a keen, hard working policeman which resulted in his transfer to the Force's newly formed Drug Squad headed by former ACC. Tony Clement with Pat Ruddy his sergeant. Terry moved to Alicante, Spain.

Former Chief Inspector Malcolm Edmundson, 74 years, passed away in St. Luke's Hospice on 10 May 2020. Malcolm had been ill for some time and particularly since last November when he was first admitted to hospital. Malcolm joined Sheffield City Police as a Cadet in 1963. He retired in 1995 as Chief Inspector Admin at Ecclesfield. He worked in both uniform and CID at Woodseats and Hackenthorpe and was Chief Inspector in the Force Control room at the time of the Hillsborough disaster. Malcolm's funeral took place on Thursday 28 May. 

Former Detective Sergeant Keith McSloy, 71 years, passed away on 7 May 2020. Keith had been suffering with cancer for some time. He worked across Sheffield and at RCS. When he was a young detective at Ecclesfield he worked with Roger Vickers and they were known as "Starsky & Hutch". Keith was the exhibits officer for the Hillsborough disaster. Keith's funeral took place on Thursday 28 May 2020.

Former PC 1374 Alan Smith, 73 years, passed away on 4 May 2020 in the Northern General Hospital with Covid-19. Alan was a transferee from Hertfordshire Police and worked at Ecclesfield and the Force Operations Room. He suffered a serious illness whilst in the Ops Room, losing the use of his legs but eventually came back to his job as a support staff member with the aid of a wheelchair.

Former Sergeant George Motley, 92 years, has passed away after suffering with Covid-19. George worked at West Bar and in Traffic. His funeral took place on Tuesday 19 May 2020.

Former Inspector Frank Trippett, 92 years, has passed away. Frank served at Woodseats and Traffic.

Former PC Dennis Gibson, 93 years, has passed away in December 2019. We have only just been informed by the solicitors dealing with his estate. He served at Hammerton Road. His funeral will already have taken place.

Former Detective Sergeant David Swift passed away on 20 February 2020. David served in Rotherham, Attercliffe and Regional Crime Squad. He moved to Sleaford in Lincolnshire after retirement. His funeral will have already taken place.

Former PC Malcolm (Bomber) Beaumont, 77 years, has passed away. Malcolm served in Barnsley and at the Charge Office Bridge Street. His funeral took place on Friday 8 May 2020.

Former Pc 2068 John Schmidt, 68 years, has sadly passed away.  John had been suffering from motor neurone disease for a relatively short period of time. John worked at West Bar, Maltby, Dinnington and Rotherham.

Former PC David Tingle, 74 years, has passed away. David worked in Traffic and AIB.

Former PC Martin Coleman, 64 years, passed away on 10 April 2020, after a short illness. Martin worked at Barnsley and was well known in the community, especially for his amateur dramatic performances.

Former PC 746 John David Terence (Dave) Waterhouse, 79 years, passed away on 16 March 2020. Dave worked at West Bar, Attercliffe, and Doncaster. He was a legendary thief taker and a great character.

Former PC Val Meadows, 81 years, passed away on 3 March 2020 in St Luke's. Val worked in Sheffield and in HQ CRO. She was married to the late Chief Superintendent Brian Meadows. Val’s funeral took place on Monday 16 March 2020.

Former PC Peter West, 65 years, passed away on 1 March 2020, after a short illness. Peter spent his career in Barnsley division. He was a larger than life character, loved by colleagues and the community alike. He was a former branch secretary for Barnsley NARPO. Peter's funeral took place on Tuesday 17 March 2020.

Former sergeant Keith Ellis, 84 years, passed away on 1 March 2020. Keith was a very well known and loved figure in Barnsley, where he spent the vast majority of his career. Keith's funeral took place on Friday 20 March 2020.

Former sergeant Herbert Ernest Bamforth, 89 years, died on Monday 24 February 2020 after suffering a stroke. He retired in June 1985 after serving in Doncaster, Traffic and AIB. Herbert's funeral took place on Tuesday 17 March 2020. 

Former PC Brian Cottingham has passed away. Brian worked at Woodseats and was a Police Federation rep. There will not be a funeral as Brian donated his body to medical research. He was not a member of NARPO.

Former PC 662 Keith Thurman, 77 years, passed away on 9 January 2020. Keith worked at Attercliffe. Keith's funeral took place on Thursday 13 February 2020.

Former PC 267 John Barrie Clay, 85 years, passed away suddenly on 13 January 2020. Barrie spent most of his service at West Bar police station, where he was well known in the control room. Barrie's funeral took place on Thursday 27 February 2020.

Former colleague Richard Holmes (known as Dick), 99 years passed away om Wednesday 15 January 2020 at the home where he has lived for a number of years. He retired around 1989 moving with his late wife Marjorie to Bridlington previously having worked Doncaster area latterly Traffic Division. Richard's funeral took place on 11 February 2020.

Former Inspector Kenneth Kidd (Ken), aged 90 years passes away on Monday 6 January 2020 in Doncaster Hospital. He worked around Doncaster District at various times. Ken's funeral took place on Monday 3 February 2020.

Former PC Jack Sykes, 96 years has passed away.  Jack retired in 1978 from Rotherham traffic based at Masborough.  He was a member of Rotherham NARPO and died following s short illness. His funeral took place at Grenoside crematorium on the 11 December 2019.

Former DCI Joseph 'Joe' Stanley Hatton has passed away.  Joe was the oldest Rotherham branch member having reached his 100th birthday in November 2019. He retired from Rotherham CID in the mid 70's. His funeral took place on Wednesday 8 January 2020.

Former sergeant John Howard Rickett, 90 years passed away on Friday 3 January 2020 having been ill for some time. John re tired as Sergeant at Adwick around 1985 having worked West Yorkshire area, Barnsley and Doncaster. John's funeral took place on Wednesday 29 January 2020.
