 Trip to Germany

Stan and Christine Croot organised a walking trip for nine people from the section to the Eifel region of Germany in October. Travel was by road having crossed the North Sea from Hull to Rotterdam on a calm and pleasant crossing.

The group stayed in a small hotel, which Stan is familiar with from his motor biking trips into Europe.

The rural location offered the opportunity to do some scenic walks and take in the countryside, which in many respects has a feel of rural England, although that was quickly dispelled when the group returned for an evening meal of schnitzels , bratkartoffel and of course Bitburger bier.

In between walks the group had chance to visit Koblenz and the famous confluence of the rivers Mosel and Rhine the 'Deutches Eck' and also the pretty town of Cochem on the Mosel.
The trip was a great success and the section may look to organise a further walking trip this year if members are interested.

Limestone Dales Walk - 2nd March 2008

Alan and Jean arranged a lovely walk on Sunday 2nd March starting from Tideswell and taking in many of the surrounding dales, eleven of the section turned out and completed the 4 hour walk.  The weather was very windy but clear and dry so magnificent views from the top of the hills.  Speaking for everyone who attended we wanted to thank Alan and Jean and we look forward to the next walk.
