Sports Club
The majority of retired officers are Life Members of the South Yorkshire Police Sports & Social Club.
Qualification for Life Membership – to have retired on pension, either on completion of the required number of years service or as a result of injury or ill health and have paid contributions to the Club as an Ordinary Member for five years or more.
Sporting & Social Sections – participation at Force level is encouraged and for those with the appropriate ability participation at National Level is permissible under Police Sport UK rules.
Mini Buses – the Club has two mini buses for your use. A 12 seater based at Niagara & a 16 seater kept at Doncaster. All you pay is a small administration fee and the cost of the fuel.
The Club value Life Members and in recognition of this on the 15th August, 2001 the Board of Directors agreed a number of principles:-
1. The past efforts & financial contribution of the Life Members have been significant in placing the Club in the healthy position it is today.
2.The continued financial contribution through the lottery is not insignificant.
3. In appreciation of loyalty and continued financial contribution negotiated concessions and incentives are appropriate.
4. A Communication & Marketing Strategy be developed to enhance the feeling of belonging & maximise the projected potential for increased revenue.
