Retirement 'Do's' 2011

On 31st July 2011, PS 1650 Steve `Hufty` Houghton is to retire
after 30yrs Service, his lastworking day being 22nd July 2011.




To celebrate the occasion a drink has been arranged at the
Devonshire Cat, Wellington Street, Sheffield on Thursday 1st
September 2011 from 7pm onwards.

All are welcome. As is traditional on these occasions we are
arranging a collection in order to provide Steve with a lasting
memento from his 30yrs front line policing with South Yorkshire
Police. If you are able to contribute, it will be greatly appreciated.
Please forward any monies to either myself or PC 3525 Ang SELOUS
from Road Crime Unit - Team 3 at the Complex.

Likewise, should you have a `memory` of Hufty from the last 30yrs,
which you feel may be appropriate for public consumption, please
email a summary to myself or Ang.

A Card will be available for signing in the Road Crime Unit Office
from Monday 1st August.

Hi Bob,

Would it be possible for you to post an open invitation for all former
colleagues who remember me and who may wish to attend my
retirement 'do' at the Niagara Sports and Social Club from 7pm
onwards on Thursday 21st July 2011 ? Buffet provided and
NO IRRITATING DISCO!!! (You see, it WAS time to retire!!)



My last working day was Thursday 30th June 2011 and so I am proud
to say that I am already a paid up member of NARPO !

Brief synopsis of service:

From 1980 to 1991 I served as a constable at Hammerton Road
before moving to Hackenthorpe on promotion where I was elected
as the sergeants' Fed Rep. In 1996 I returned to Ecclesfield and
Hammerton Road in the rank of inspector and retained my role now
as the inspectors' fed rep. In 2005 I was elected to office as the full
time Federation JBB Chairman, working from Maltby Police Station,
from which position I have just retired.

My long term friend, ex DI Martin Locking, has kindly agreed to do
my retirement speech. If anyone wants to contribute then I can
pass them his contact details.

Kay Drabble is Retiring

Kay Drabble from Hammerton Road is finally retiring, apparently
after 37 years service.
She is having a party at the Queen's Ground Pub on Langsett Road
(F3 as it was known once) on Tuesday 31st May 2011.

Mick Wragg is going to prepare a suitable speech!

There must be lots of retired members that would want to give
her a good send off, attend on the night and/or contribute towards
a leaving present.

Nita Goodinson at Hammerton Road has started a collection so if
anyone wanted to contribute they could contact her confidentially.

Friends & Colleagues,

After 30+ years I am 'exiting stage left' and I'm sure some will say
'about time too'.

There are not many of us pre PACE dinosaurs left now, so I intend to
finish it as it started with a final soiree at the once bastion known as
F3 (way back when we were Divisions) and still referred to today as
the QG.

4.00pm onwards - Thursday 12th May - Queens Ground PH,
Langsett Road, Hillsborough.

So all are welcome to come along and reminisce, that's if you're not

A Retirement 'Do' with a Difference
for DC Paul Skelding

Is there anyway you could email this message to your
members.

Dc Paul 'Skid' Skelding retired from SYP on 12th April
2011after 30 years service and invites all those that
knew him to a retirement drink.

Rather than the normal drinks, followed by speech and
more drink in the same location, Skid decided he'd rather
go on a bit of a pub crawl around Bawtry - no speech's
just food and drink.

Date of the drink is Friday 29th April 2011 (yes I know that
means Wills and Kate won't be able to make it as they too
have a bit of a do organised - This is the perfect excuse to
get out of the house and avoid the TV coverage)

The plan is to meet at 13:00 in the Turnpike (28 High Street
Bawtry) and then...........who knows where, but it will be
in Bawtry somewhere. The intention (for the hardcore) is to
stay out until well into the evening.

We do appreciate that some or most will not be able to start
and/or finish with us, but if you do want to join us at anytime
during the day then ring any of the numbers below and we'll let
you know where we are.
