Pre-retirement Courses
As police officers approach retirement the South Yorkshire Police make a pre-retirement course available, they are normally held at the Force Training Department, Niagara Conference & Leisure or some other similar venue.
SOUTH YORKSHIRE POLICE
Pre-Retirement Course.
The current course is held over two days and normally hosted by PMAS and other financial organisations, features elements of retirement planning, health & lifestyle advice, in addition to general & specific financial issues.
An Executive Committee Member of NARPO, also provides an advisory and informational input which includes a brief history of the organisation & what it can currently offer those planning to retire within the next 18 months. The latter is achieved by an audio/visual presentation which identifies the NARPO website and highlights many of the subject areas featured.
Finally a short session on the expectations and reality of retirement entitled “The Afterlife” concludes this particular part of the course.
