History

Sheffield Coat of Arms

In existence since the National Association of Retired Police Officers was formed in 1919 when the whole membership were ex-Sheffield City Officers.

With amalgamations and reorganisation the Branch welcomed former Sheffield & Rotherham Constabulary and South Yorkshire Police retirees.

After an initial period of stability, membership has increased progressively over the years due to an active Secretary and Government increases in the number of police officers. In 1985 membership was 500 - an increase of 60% has seen numbers increase to over 800 today.
